Hello and welcome to the madhouse, lol.
What sort of advice are you looking for, the caresheet on here is a great place to start on how to keep Royals, the stickies on this forum (the subject stuck to the top of the list) are a good read for specific info and anything else you want to know, just ask.
Oh and its law that you have to post lots of pictures. |

Hi and welcome - royals are one of the most gorgeous snakes around imo, and plenty of info and help on this forum as Bob says. Congrats on your new acquisition. |

Check on the pictures section for instructions on how to post pictures using photobucket.
Sounds a bit little to be a year old, a hatchling would be not far off a foot and a half, my 1 year old is about 4 feet so I'm thinking that he is a bit younger than you think though they can sometimes be slow to start feeding and that prevents them growing much. Saying all that they are deceptive and never appear as long as they are all stretched out.
Temperature control for a RUB setup is a simple heat mat thermostat Habistat, Microclimate and Komodo are the most commonly available, and you'll also need a couple of digital thermometers. If you don't have a thermostat you need to get one ASAP there is a risk of burning the snake (and the house down) using any heat source that is not controlled yet most shops sell snakes without them which is annoying.
Temps are 32oC at the heat mat side and then the rest is left at room temperature as there isn't a right lot you can do to heat the air with a heat mat. You dont want the cool side dropping too cold though because its also the air temp of the whole RUB and even with a warm belly from a heat mat a Royal can still get cold if its too low. What temperatures are you achieving at the moment? |

Hot end temp should be 32c and the heat mat on a thermostat
Is the heat mat on the inside of the rub/viv?
Not bad feeders but they like to fast over the winter months something they do Get the setup right and they will be good feeders till they decide to fast for a while
P.s I sell digital thermometers £5 and they have a probe on a wire so yocacao place it where you like ;) |

I'm not having a go, this isn't your fault the shop sold you cronk (cant swear so it will do) but unfortunately you need to do an overhaul of your setup. At the same time you need to have a good read up on Royal Pythons, they do take a slightly specialised approach due to their nature mainly.
A thermomenter that I think will be a aquarium thermometer is totally useless, they are designed for reading water temperature while submerged in water. Digital thermometers with probes are the best thing for measuring temperature.
Without a thermostat the heat mat is running constantly at full power, I did a test on a small 7 watt heat mat and it got too hot for a Royal Python within an hour, within a few hours it was just under 40oC. If I was you I would move the hide to the cold side, its going to be too hot in the hot side and its going to want to hide.
Length is near impossible to accurately measure, go by weight, buy yourself a good accurate set of scales and weigh the sanke after a poo when they aren't full of food.
(avoid the shop you bought this from, its the only way they will learn if people stop buying from them). |

Oh she is a good size, Beautiful too.
the 4 foot viv might be a bit big, Royals hate open space, I honestly think my snake Duke would be happy in a match box if he'd fit. |
