Is there any ways of trying to make a bearded dragon feed on veg. Everything I try fails. All he wants at the minute is locust. I'm next to try cock roaches but think the missis will go crazy lol

Any tips?

Thanks

Just sounds like he's got expensive taste then lol try a few of the staple diet things off that list and mix up the occasional foods to give variety he will eat it eventually persistence is the key

He poos and wees a hell of a lot and he doesn't seem to be compacted by it. I'm surprised of how big his poos are and how many times he goes.

He took a load of meal worms from me yesterday which was good

It could be that he's ate sand and is compacted, sands not the best for young beardies, calci sand is bad as it encourages them to eat it and if they eat too much they can't digest it. Its better to use lino or tiles or even astro turf type stuff but id imagine cleaning poop off it would be a nightmare lol

Have a look at this to see what fruit and veg you can try, just a thought what substrate you using?

My old beardie used to go crazy for dandelions, both leaves and flowers. They're rich in vitamins and minerals plus, they're free

I feed mine spring greens you get a big bag for £1 from asda or Morrisons and mix with butternut squash for a couple days a week carrot a couple days and mixed peppers the rest or if i have something left over that he can eat I'll throw that in too

He hasn't touched crickets for couple weeks. I tried starving him as such. About 4 days he went n he didn't touch crickets or veg so had to go out n get locust.
jimmer7 Posted - 24/06/2013 : 20:08:05
Dont offer anything for 3 day just water, then try veg in morn then offer crickers early evening.

Mines gone off everything other than locust lol so I may have to invest in a locust farm.

But then again he doesn't exactly jump for locust at the minute. If I leave them in there they do eventually dissapear.

I always found with the beardies I had, when they were young they ate little veg but lots of insects and as they got older they ate lots more fruit and veg and cut down a bit on the insects.
