At least they printed the police statement saying how rare snake attacks are.
Seems snakes arent the only ones getting bad press though. Owners of killer dogs will now be sentenced to life in prison.

not sure if much else has been released on the matter

45 kg of feathers wouldn't ;)
jonnyc1988 Posted - 07/08/2013 : 18:43:04
It is ridiculous! The problem is that the people investigating this dont know enough about snakes, but im sure they can apply some common sense. If a snake that size was constricting a child it wouldnt even make contact with its neck. its body would probably be covering the head, so there couldnt be strangle marks on the neck. Also if you dropped a 45kg weight from the ceiling its going to make a hell of a noise.
boomslang Posted - 07/08/2013 : 18:40:22
Think everyone will just have to wait,Until the police say what happened.
The whole story from the media is just made up,alot of guesswork on what really happened.

Now its a pipe that fell down, not the whole ceiling.

No one heard a 13-16 foot snake knock on the door and ask if the kids were coming out to play?

What a joke. Are the family all deaf?

But what they don't state is. We're did they find the kids? In the bed? On the floor? Did the parents not wake up to the sound of a ceiling falling down? How long until they found the snake? How long emergency services took?
On the floor in the living room,He found them in the morning.

And no one heard a thing :P

They lay next to you to measure you up. Actually stated in the news.

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/fatal-n-b-python-attack-provokes-shock-warnings-090326777.html

2 tragedies unfolding. The first is the death of 2 children, the second is going to be the backlash and misinformation on snakes. I personally can't understand the sequence of events that could have led to this tragedy that fits with known snake behaviours. How an ambush predator went on the hunt and then constricted 2 children one at a time and yet ate neither of them just makes little sense to me. Snakes don't strangle prey either so to hear if strangle marks etc also makes little sense, also there is no mention of bite marks or blood, a snake attack from anything corn snake sizes and up will leave its mark.

The bit about a small hole in the tank. If its the size they say. It's not a small hole. Especially if its for ventilation.

They have not stated any teeth marks etc as we all know. Snakes draw blood regardless of size. If the python would of constricted there would be a terrible mess of blood. And a bite mark so hard to miss they must of done the investigation in the dark.

They always will blame the animal as in our world it's defenceless to its view. But they list dangerous animals in there report but where's dogs or cats or foxes all the most common things we live with day in day out.

I got 2 snakes and German shepherd amongst others. And even though the snakes are in tanks some people won't come round. But there happy to stroke my dog. Kids wind him up n people laugh but he's a 50kg+ animal with truth bigger than most digs and would destroy anything in its way if it felt threatened.

This while story is a mess. Reporters and press are too happy for a story they blame whatever they think is easiest.

But what they don't state is. We're did they find the kids? In the bed? On the floor? Did the parents not wake up to the sound of a ceiling falling down? How long until they found the snake? How long emergency services took?

The autopsy was performed yesterday but I hav'nt seen the results. Too late for the boys and too late for the snake.
I think from what is released its likely to hit U.S snake keepers hard with new laws.
phlegmatical Posted - 07/08/2013 : 10:28:25
That report says 13ft another 15, the star this morning says 16!
JanieW Posted - 07/08/2013 : 09:59:16
So the snake was probably shot by the police

The guy looked a bit weird and didn't sound too bothered by it all in interview, id imagine the snake would leave marks but considerably more than strangle marks on neck and id think a 16ft 50kg rock python would have quite a girth and would be hard pushed to fit around a child's neck
jonnyc1988 Posted - 07/08/2013 : 03:24:09
Thats interesting that there was strangle marks on the kids necks. I dont think a snake would leave strangle marks.
rockroyal Posted - 07/08/2013 : 02:58:07
There is no way this can be a snake's doing this seams to be a cover up for the murder of to children
boomslang Posted - 06/08/2013 : 23:01:46
I found that part odd to,falling through a ceiling without making a sound.Plus all the other things, that make little sense too.

The guy that owns the pet store found the kids right?

I'm sorry, but I just don't buy this. I'm no snake expert but it seems strange beyond belief that a snake would strangle one child , which implies constriction around the neck, not eat it and then move onto the next child and strangle that one and leave it. If the snake was scared it would strike defensively and try to get away surely? As far as I'm aware, snakes don't kill defensively, they kill to eat. It just doesn't add up.
carlb1981 Posted - 06/08/2013 : 22:20:00
From what I've read i don't believe for one minute the snake is responsible for their death i think someone has tried to cover up something by using the snake as a scapegoat. The roof apparently collapsed under the snakes weight which was 50kg so that would have made one hell of a noise and woke everyone up and not giving the snake a chance to attack, but if by some miracle this happened silently surely a snake that size would have struck and coiled to eat one kid which would have resulted in screams waking the other up and everyone else in the house then there's the fact there was only strangle marks apparent on the necks of the kids im pretty sure a snake that size would have left a lot more obvious signs of it attacking them like bites and severe bruising all over their bodies? it all just doesn't add up 1 kid would have been plausible but not 2 without causing alarm to others
boomslang Posted - 06/08/2013 : 15:32:49
Seems odd right,If something else did happen to them. Then to find a snake at the scene to.Which got upto the second floor,Don't they have covers on the vents. So both ends of a ventilation system had no vent covers.

And like said, kill two people at once,or one at a time without anyone making a sound?
Foremand Posted - 06/08/2013 : 12:44:04
Yeah exactly. They only seem to stop feeding is when the feel in danger but then the leave. Not attack another. Something doesn't add up
