Does anyone use LED strips in their vivs? Is lighting it up the only purpose they serve?

I used em,think they're great :) the white python ones put out a brighter white light,Some of the cheaper sets are a yellow or darker white.Super easy to install and should last a good while :)

Alot less expensive then using strips just for lighting.maybe even bulbs, depending on how many you go through vs how long the leds last, which i can't say atm.

One small thing about the white python one's,the connector to connect it to the power is really close to the lights. If you had a larger snake,it might beable to pull the connectors apart. If you placed it within the viv.

2nd and 3rd pic down, that short little connector in the pics.anyway without going on and on,Either way you have to drill a large hole for that thing.sure they could've had a connector that plugged directly into the connector that plugs into the lights.

In their vids they say you don't have to take plugs off etc,Well is it faster to take a plug of,then push a lead through a pre drilled viv hole.Or get a drill out and start drilling to get that fat connector to fit through?

hope people understand what im ranting at :P

From what the guy says on the video theyre just for night time viewing, doesnt disrupt any of their nocturnal habits

I thought the blue ones were supposed to be night lights? Like moon light?
austin_89 Posted - 22/09/2013 : 00:16:02
Im gonna get a black viv stack so im thinking the blue strips would look nicer?
jonnyc1988 Posted - 21/09/2013 : 18:11:05

austin_89 Posted - 21/09/2013 : 18:00:30

I've got some White Python ones in my Carpets viv. White and Red. They're pretty damn bright. Nice n easy to install, you get sticky backed magnetic strips, makes for tidy fitment.

I use Dioder ones from IKEA. They are fantastic. They are coloured too but mainly are set to white. I think I paid 20 quid for 4 vivariums worth.

They do the job very well.
jonnyc1988 Posted - 20/09/2013 : 23:18:31
I just use the white ones, not keen on coloured lights. would look like a disco lol. I will get some pics up tomorrow, Im at work at the mo. night shift!!
austin_89 Posted - 20/09/2013 : 22:55:06
That sounds sweet! Cant wait to see pics :D

Just been checking out the LED strips and they are about £30 but its only really the boa that comes out that much so im not sure weather or not to put one in each viv or not
donjolly8947 Posted - 20/09/2013 : 22:04:01
Im making a feature in my viv by putting red led light in a skull and put wire mesh to cover the eyes and mouth that will come on for night time
austin_89 Posted - 20/09/2013 : 21:57:39
Have you got coloured ones or white ones? Have you got a pic of em in the viv?
jonnyc1988 Posted - 20/09/2013 : 20:37:15
I use LED's in my vivs. have them all on timers to give my snakes 12 hours of "sunlight". They produce absolutely no heat and should not be used as a heat source.
The 2 brands I use are lucky reptile and white python. The white python ones are nicer but cost a bit more. They are both great systems though, had the lucky reptiles ones in for a few years and never had a single bulb go.
austin_89 Posted - 20/09/2013 : 20:24:55
So you would definitely still need a heat source? I just like the idea of switching em on of a evening for a bit cause they look nice :D
Fezza Posted - 20/09/2013 : 20:01:22
I thought the idea of LEDs was that they produce very little heat?
