No I don't, I'm just showing that there are other points of view, I'm not sure 'safer' is 100% accurate. Certainly less stressful for a shy Royal though.
yeah sure, but i worded it wrong, i was coming from the moving of the snake after it has eaten...
sorry for my mistake
Don't take it personally, I'm not saying you're wrong, in fact, as you pointed out, I feed all of mine in their vivs
i never really took it that personally...lol..
i should have worded it better... |

Posted - 11/07/2009 : 19:12:06 I always watch mine when they eat, I they get some substrate I just take I out of their mouths with tongs, you would be suprised how easy it is.
Then again my lot seem to have one thing on their mind, eating, no matter what is happening at the time. |

Posted - 11/07/2009 : 18:31:51 I thought of that but i have read about royals that take the food into the hide to eat. Think it is going to be a last minute decision. |

Posted - 11/07/2009 : 18:31:13 my pythons are all on tussue so no probs with substrate |

Posted - 11/07/2009 : 18:18:39 Other ways of stopping ingestion are possible, such as putting a piece of paper down or putting the prey onto a flat rock. Mine all strike feed and I defrost dry so no substrate gets struck to them and they don't tend to come in contact with the substrate anyway. |

Posted - 11/07/2009 : 18:12:24 Quote from care sheet-`Feeding your Royal Python outside the vivarium is recommended to ensure that no substrate is ingested along with the prey item. If a Royal Python ingests large amounts of it's substrate then it can lead to your snake becoming impacted and ill.` If this is right why does everyone feed in their vivs! |

Ok i am only going to handle her to put her in her rub for feeding. Will just have to wait a bit longer.
why dont you feed her in the viv? its much easier and safer
A lot of people would disagree with regards to substrate ingestion.
do you feed out of the viv now then? |

as she is older you might be ok as she will have been used to being handled..
but i would not handle till she has fed.. i never handle when it is coming up to a feed anyway;-) |
