the bridgwater taunton area is lacking in good reptile shops. the only good one i have found is blagdon, they are good for reptiles but when it comes to decoration for the vivs they dont have much and neither do the other shops. most of which are sections in garden centes. and they are over priced. monkton elm for one is over priced £100 for a normal and £280 for a pastel royal.

i know u can get decor on line cheaper than shops but sometimes i would like to see the item b4 i buy it.

does anyone know of any good rep shops in somerset? not bristol

Hiya, I'm just up the road from reptiles plus in Bournemouth and yes, they are very good. There is also another shop about a mile away from them in Boscombe called the reptilian which, although bigger, i dont use so much so cant comment on. I believe reptiles plus also has a branch in Poole.

Yeah, I know the feeling!

The snakes don't give a damn what their space looks like - but we suffer for our art!

ps good tip about the java with nut and bolt, going to try that myself.

pps fun though, isn't it?

i recommend planet reptiles in the plymton area of plymouth, get all my stuff from there and the guy will order in any specific morphs that your after. he's just re-jigged the shop to and theres plenty on offer.

finally after months of searching i have found some large pieces of java wood at cadbury garden centre. had to leave the girlfriend guarding them while i went to get a trolly lol

i also bought one of the java wood bird perches, the type with the nut and bolt on the end. this i will fix through the top of my new viv for my jcp when it arrives. was my gf idea to do this, would have never thought about it myself

Ha crazy, was just talking to my family a few days ago about Taunton, my mother got a job offer down there and jokingly I said we could all move down and I'd open a reptile shop xD Looks like that ideas out the windows lol

Heya, there are two shops in taunton worth a visit! For actual animals, I'd recommend Littlefish Aquatics in taunton town, The animals are fairly inexpensive, and are healthy, happy specimens, he has really good contacts if you wanted animals ordered in to the shop too.

For just supplies, he's a little bit expensive - I use frozendirect for foods, livefoods for live food, surreypetsupplies for other supplies, and to get things in a shop, I us watermarque which is 2 minutes drive out of taunton. I DO NOT reccomend their animals though. I took a royal and a corn and two leopard geckos, AND a beardie off a few friends, all of which were bought their, some have broken or kinked tailes, the beardie has no toes, and the snakes all had worms, and my vet even said the corn is missing ribs! SO.. yeh, fine for supplies, just.. not animals.. God knows why my mates decided to buy such obviously impaired animals though.. Hope this helps!

I know it's not of much use but I have to rave about the 2 BRILLIANT shops I have near me. The Reptile Shack have branches in Arbroath and Dundee (north east Scotland) so if you're ever up this end of the country, check them out!

Ceramic and mat. Though Sabre is getting big enough now not to need a mat so much

Well i live in Bristol and think i have covered pretty much every reptile place in the south/south west.

Blagdon are good but not too much in terms of decor. Good for substrate and heating etc.
Cadbury are about the best locally as they have a huge area for rep's. The do everything pretty much.
AJ rep's are good but only really for buying reps. Nice bloke and really good knowledge.
Reptiles Plus in Bournemouth are very good. Good prices and good stock.
The Ark in Exeter has a good selection, good levels of decor and hides etc.
Tiny Boas In Exeter is ok, only really good for looking round at stock.
Emsowrth Reptiles are about as good as it gets. Amazing selection of reps and pretty much everything you'll ever need.
Reptile Zone in Bristol has a good selection, but never has what i want. No named brands and WAYY to expensive.
Planet Reptile in Swindon is another branch of the above
Planet Reptiles in Plymouth has a good selection. Some really good interesting stock and good for supplies too.
Two by Two in Plymouth had a fair selection. Only been in there once so not really fair to comment
Jurrasic Reps, only a small amount of stock. Some nice Boas but nothing to get excited about.
Scales and Tails in Porthcawl is a good shop if your local to that area.
Pet Wise in Ponty have a ok selection nothing to special.

All are my opinion i have to say

its not to bad ordering it online, depending on where you order it from, you could always email them and give a few specifications like hieght or something
