I just read the sticky in this section which answered a lot of genetic questions for me. The main one was the meaning of 'heterozygous' and 'homozygous'. Am I right in saying 'het' means the snake has the gene but only one and therefore it is not visible (but still breed-able)?

"" Quoted from Leucistic in the Introduction Thread:

Any questions just ask away, this is a great friendly forum :)

Are you aiming at blue eyed Leucistics one day? or gonna go down another route with the lesser gene (Nuclear etc)? ""

For those that did not read that thread, I have a Male Lesser Platinum now.

I have to be honest Leucistic, at this point I do not know enough to know what is possible, but I am trying to learn fast. What I do know is what I like the look of and I would very much like a piebald as a next snake. What possibilities would a Lesser Platinum / Piebald give me?

I had not heard of 'Nuclear' until you mentioned it - I am off to google those now!!!!

This stuff is so fascinating.

Trying to get my head round this genetics stuff as I'm trying to work out what to save up for.
Been playing around on the wizard, but what would you get visually if you paired Caramel Albino with Axanthic?
I'm asking as my local shop has both of these at ok prices, not that im anywhere near ready to buy..lol

would be fairly pointless as you'd end up with super fires or super butter both primarily all white snakes, the best thing to do with a nuclear morph would be to breed with pattern mutations like clown, genetic stripe ect nuclear pied would be awesome or try play about with other non bel complex colour mutations to see what happens

I really like the Nuclears and the black fires and black head mojaves are a cool looking snake. I think we will really take our time though and enjoy the learning experience for a while. I am not in any hurry and want to learn as much as I can before taking the plunge into breeding. I am sure it is really possible to produce something really amazing. I take it you like the white snakes best!

You have started with a good base morph, so have lots of good options.

Do you like the lesserxmojo, or super lesser both blue eyed Lucy's? They have gotta be one of my fav morphs

All the babies with be 100% het pied if using a visual pied ;)
Joeboy Posted - 08/04/2013 : 13:56:15
Great wizard - that is going to help understanding a lot - thanks!
Leucistic Posted - 08/04/2013 : 13:31:13
If you bred a pied and your lesser plat you would get the following

50% 1/2 Normal Het. Piebald (50% het)
50% 1/2 Lesser Het. Piebald (50% het)

above the clutch would have a 50% chance of been het for pied.
you would then need to breed the lesser het pied back to a visual pied to get a lesser pied visual.

Have a play on here and see what you like and can pair up

hope this helps
