I dont think it is hard to get a royal to the correct weight, but its the development of the reproductive organs that is the issue...Most people say 3 years to give them time to mature slowly.

thats exactly what i thought Daz, hence i asked..

but in the wild it is often not 3 years am i correct? or maybe it would be older cos they might not reach maturity so quick depending on available prey items ..

am i wrong again?

its hard to say...maybe lots of females breed to young and die as a result...unfortunatly it is very hard to say, as im sure you would never find the remains to find out...

i would not breed early Matty, have no fear of that, was just a question really..

But Daz confirmed what i was thinking

Its a bit like saying a 13 year old girl could get pregnant, but is it ideal?

what if it is at breeding weight but only two years old? or just over two?
dazb Posted - 14/05/2009 : 19:13:13
same as above...

some say 1500, some say 1800...most if not all people would say 3 years.
Blackecho Posted - 14/05/2009 : 18:31:08
As Matty says, 1500g+, 1800g ideally and 3 years+ old.

The female has to be 1500g+ and in good health.
