I'm getting a Mojave for Christmas and hope to be getting a second one not long after.
Breeding is a while off, if at all to be honest, but nonetheless I read that you can end up with BELs. Is this true and if so, how likely is it?
Thanks |

Posted - 17/12/2012 : 16:23:25 the way I look at the odds is: for each egg you have a specific % to get a certain morph, in this case 25% BEL. in a clutch of 2 the likelihood of having a BEL is still 25% but the overall odds that both of these are BELs is 6.25% 4 eggs gives you an overall chance of 0.4% that all would be BELs |

Great. Makes more sense now. Thanks.
Has anyone had success with BELs?
You mentioned dirty BELs... What do you mean by this.
Appreciate your help by the way and apologies for silly questions of that what they are!
Kelfezond paired two fires last year in an attempt to produce black eyes lucies. I can't remember the exact outcome but he ended up with normals and fires, no black eyes. It's always gonna be a gamble, that's what makes it fun |

Thanks fezza and Danny.
What's confusing me is the likelihood bit.
If a clutch contained 4 eggs, is one definately gonna be a BEL?
Could you end up with all normals, all mojaves, all BELs?
Well confused!
if you have a clutch of 4 eggs, then the statistics say you should get 1 normal, 2 mojaves and 1 BEL, but the 25% chance of a normal, 50% chance of a mojave and 25% chance a BEL is per egg. yes you could get a clutch full of normals, you could get a clutch full of mojaves, or if your extremly lucky you could get a clutch of all BEL. theres no 100% chance of what youll get, so you could produce no BEL in theory in your first clutch. to better your odds, you would need more eggs. and the only way to get more eggs, is to grow the female on a bit more. so instead of breeding at 1500g, breed at 2000g when shes a bit older. |

Posted - 15/12/2012 : 11:38:00 yes fezza is right, you have 25% of producing a BEL. one thing to consider is do you want a pure white BEL or a dirty white BEL. super mojaves produce a dirty white BEL, having a grey head and greyish tint to the body. if you want a pure white BEL, go for a lesser to pair with your mojave. its down to personal preferance, i prefer the dirty white super mojo so is what i shall be buying/producing, but some poeple prefer the pure white mojo/lesser BEL |

Posted - 15/12/2012 : 11:33:03 Mojave x mojave will give you
50% chance of mojave 25% chance of normal 25% chance of BEL
Keep in mind that those are only statistics and the outcome you actually get could be very different |
