Ok lovely thank you. im gonna spend from now trying to learn the genetics of the royal to get a grips a bit.
Kelfezond Posted - 18/12/2011 : 22:13:34
Yeah well, it really doesn't matter which way the genes come :)
marc_sg Posted - 18/12/2011 : 21:41:34
I just didnt ask him about which way (if any) the genes had to come

Money isnt a problem because i am using my corn snake babies to go towards the royals. i was thinking on buying a pied male any way the year after. as with having the corns im used to waiting for the female to be ready to breed. thats why i am getting the female first. leaving me the next year to buy the pied male. Looking to spend about 300 to 500 on the female then buy the pied the year after the same way. i have already spoken to the rep shop who breed their own royals and he is going to try and get the genes i need. he has the highest contrast pied in britain 95% white with a lil bit of brown on the body. and has around 250 royals so things should go well.

Okay well firstly Spider is a dominant gene which means there are no het spiders so you would only need to be buying a regular piebald for the second morph. The spider het piebald shouldn't be too expensive either but in short no it doesn't matter which way around the genes are but the females do tend to be more expensive and remember females take 3 years to mature on average males are much quicker so I normally buy my more expensive morphs as males, but it's each to their own.

For the record if money is an issue you could probably buy a female het piebald for about £150(ish) and a male spider het piebald to save money, less chance of a spied being produce (only 12.5%) but will be much cheaper than buying a piebald which go for around £700-£1200 depending on the amount of white :)
