Decided to feed my royal tonight, as he only had a very small rat pup in the week as i was not sure he would feed.

Anyway..

warmed rat up in hot water...take lid off rub..

Echo is in the mood for food comes straight out...strikes and misses almost getting me in the process, i nearly had a heart attack..lol..

offered it again, he struck again and missed again, bless him

Final attempt strikes misses the rat hits the side of his rub and then proceeds to keep trying to realign his jaw, but not in a normal way, first the right side then the left..then right and then left again, did this several times..

Is it possible he could have broke it?

what does a snake jaw look like when its broke?

I don't think there's much in there to break, probably just jarred it. Check him tomorrow.

i think BE's right, he's probably just a bit sore
Spruce does the right-left-right thing aligning his jaw if he's had a particulary large meal. a broken jaw is likely to be shown by the snake not actually being able to close its mouth or a drooping lower 'lip' on one side

Thanks for asking...

My Royal does the left side / right side re-alignment quite often, I think they can move both bit individually because when he's swallowing his food he moves one side at at time sometimes.

heres that pic showing that their jaw is split so they can move each side seperatly.

you ca nalso see this on you tube, its a vid of a snake eating a deer, t shows you that their top and bottom jaw are split (as said) so they have 4 parts, they move each at a time, you can see it if you watch your snake eat, it wont be sore, that how they are structured lol. the vid is called python eating deer i think
