my royal and my corn share a 3.3' viv which is divided down the middle. Now there getting a bit bigger i want to open it up so the royal will have the whole viv to him self and the corn will be move to another viv, would this affect my royal if i pack it out with loads of hides and foliage. The veiw wont change for him,the viv will just get longer. He's not eating properly at the moment so should i just leave it?

All depends on how big your royal is...

i would personally leave him till he is feeding regular though...

becuase the viv is square (50x50) the temp gradient is playing up (cool end gets warm too)becuase the viv is not that long but is deeper thean others and this might be why hes not feeding regurly, there is really only enough floor space for 2 hides and a water bowl.

As Daz said it depends on the size but if your temps are off, I'd probably do it, with hides, wood plastic plants etc, leave it a week & try a feed

Difficult to know Lee. Like Daz I would say wait until feeding properly, but if you can't get the gradient that may be upsetting him too.

Sorry, not much help really.

are you able to move the heat source to provide more of a gradient?

it's a dilema, what if i move the partition 3/4 along the viv or would that just have the same effect on him as taking the partition out,if any effect?

How long has he not been eating for? To be honest the longer he hasnt been eating the more I would want to open the viv up.

he's only had a few mice in the last 3 months, nothing in the last month and with the warmer weather coming(hopfuly) i cant see the temp problem getting better,so i think i will open it up and cram in with plenty of hides and foliage and give him a good few weeks to settle again but will wait until i try his next feed.

it's a hard decision and i know im going against advice i have given to others but im thinking i got to try as temps are not constant in the cool end,he's not eating anyway and he's never to be seen so this might just turn the tables, got to at least try, wish me luck.

As your say temps are very important and if your not getting the right gradient then it could be the reason for not feeding, give it ago and see how you get on. Good luck mate...
