Hiya everyone, im new on here, im hopeing to get a royal python next year, but i want to do all the research i can first. i just had a few questions. Is it true that a royal python will be happy in a 50ltr rub as a adult? Are they happy with just a heat mat? Or do they need ceramic heat bulbs?? |

Hi and Welcome..
A adult royal will be fine a 50l RUB...
As for heat sources, if your using a viv i suggest ceramic or heat lamp, if using a RUB its a heat mat... |

Agree with Daz, most adults will be ok in a 50L RUB, unless you get an exceptionally large one. |

I use a RUB and a viv and both work fine...
RUBs are cheaper and because some royals are not that active a viv is sometimes seen as a waste of money cos it looks empty most of the time... |

I think most people use viv's on here. The reason i am using a RUB is cos i have a fussy feeder and trying to get her feeding again (as we all know).
I think it comes down to space, how many reps you keep etc...
IMO I use a RUB until it is of a good size as it is a cheaper than keeping upgrading the size of your viv as the royal grows, then when it reaches a say 3+ foot size, you can either move to the correct size viv or buy a bigger RUB. Works out alot cheaper.

Dont worry about asking any question
a RUB is a Really Useful Box...
Like in the link or similar. Basically a plastic box with a lid.

have you not tried her with a multi yet Daz?
i use vivs to, dont worry that they are not out, i like vivs for preference cos i think they look nice is all..
i only see my royals when i get them out or say goodnight to them and they might be out then they might not..does not bother me really..
its part of what a royal is.. |
