just a thought, but when it gets really hot here do any of you turn off your heat?
i am thinking of getting some mini fans for my vivs anyway, just to circulate air...
but it thinking with how hot it is going to get this summer, it might be safe to turn it off, i dont want my snakes cooking.. |

If the heating is all on thermostats then there is no need to and you wont need to remember to turn them back on. I used to have a coolstat connected to a large fan to reduce the ambient room temperature but now the reptile rooms are all fitted with air-con units which either heat or cool the rooms when required so I dont need to do anything.

A coolstat connected to a fan in the room but leave the heating stats turned on for if the temperature drops too low from the fan or simply the weather getting cooler. It worked fine for me in a conservatory which gets really hot.

I could be very wrong here but as long as the temperature is high it just has the same effect as it does with us. Lethargic and looking forward to the evening when heat and humidity drop. |

Heres a plug in cooling thermostat, just plug a fan into it in the room. |

At least with those you can plug them into an extension lead and put it wherever you want. If it's very close to the vivs you would need to set the temp just above the cut out point of the viv's stat or it will be causing the viv heating to come on more often. I normally have a couple of degrees C as a threshold.
