hi there as ive never had a heat mat setup i wonderd if u could give me sum info on wot mat and controles i would need, i have a 28"x18"x18" viv and have only used red bulbs. |

for royal's you would be better staying with bulb's, either i.r. or ceramic, just as they get larger, with heatmat's they are more likely to burn with their weight ontop of the mat. Scott |

heavier bodied snakes such as royals absorb heat better from a bulb or rad although mats are commonly used for juveniles in RUBs/tubs/fauns. what ever heat source you choose you need a thremostat to control it. mats are ok with basic on/off stats, bulbs and rads are better off with pulses or dimmers, the only exception being heat sources that emit light as well, then use a dimmer so you don't get the 'disco effect' |

i only use mats on juvies...
infrared or ceramics i think are enough for royals.. |
