is it best to place the probe in the warm hide,or on top of the substrate outside the hide or under the substrate.where have you all got yours?

I have mine ontop of the substrate next to the hide on the hot end.

Got one probe in each hide. One hot and one cold.

im gonna move mine to outside of the hide with my royals. I have been keeping it in the hide, but have noticed that wen my royals lay on the probe it registers a drop in temp and turns the stat on even wen the surface temp is ok.
