After 9 weeks of stressing and worrying stardust has eaten for the first time , we had to go from medium to small fluffy and left her for 2 weeks without trying but hunger and curiosity finally got the better of her, as you can imagine we're all very relieved, thanks for all the input and advice given.

Is it common for Royals to refuse for so long? I'd be so worried if mine did that! |

she fed for the first time last week but only a small fluffy gonna try her again with a small tommorow at the same time as last week (saturday at 2100 hrs or when she pops out) then next week gonna try to take her to a medium fluff her skin looks a little loose towards her final third, when you say about seeing her spine.... i mean she has a ridge! but nothing pronounced ,
stress wise , she knows my scent , i work away during the week , but am home every weekend, when i come in the room im sure she can scent me cos she pops out and is very active
i had her 'out' today and she lets me handle her (no tucking into a ball , very relaxed , moves around , loves to wrap around the top of my arm to squeeze and sits around my neck and watches telly with me too lol)(i am very warm blooded and i think she likes the heat) i only EVER have her out for c.15 minutes max , then let her move back into the viv of her own accord off my hand, so to say she is relaxed is an understatment :)
is squeezing a sign of hunger or her telling me she is hungry ?
finally - if she feeds again tomorrow on a small fluff and still looks hungry - if you want to feed her again, do you offer it and let her strike again or try to feed it to her as the other one is being swallowed ?
thanx all |

It wont look physically full, and it will search for food for quite a while afterwards (its normal for it to search a bit) |

A small mouse fluff is probably too small even for a hatchling Royal, try a small mouse or a Rat Pup. |

i am pleased to announce she ate a medium mouse this week... so thats 2 feeds in one week - last saturday and this saturday... over the moon.. and this week she was waitin for it, bang on time, out of her hide and looking damned hungry (my name for sharp movements of the head and shaking of the head ready to strike)
she even bit me trying to get the mouse lol, i think my thumb is her perfect mouse size, so she tried to kill my thumb. |
