Typical, just got stardust to eat regular and on the right size food...and then she hid in her hide all week randomly popping her head out to say ' hi , im not dead' ... so i decided to clean her viv, popped her out and she is a foggy colour with blue foggy eyes...

i'm guessing she is to hit her first shed :) , so have started to mist her and viv and am investing in a humidity thermometer and thinking of 'zoo med eco earth' coconut hide for putting in her hide for misting instead of a moss hide on sunday (tommorow)

questions

will she feed during the sloughing period ?
shall i stop trying to feed during this period ?
how long from the bluish colouration and foggy eyes to shed completion ?

very excited about this, i am aiming for a successful single skin shed

After the eyes clear its generally a few days until they shed.

I have some that eat while in the shedding process and some that don't.

ok . one of the hides has now got coconut husk (slightly damp) set down in it to promote good humidity , along with some laid over aspen in the 'basking area'
she come out and gave it a good sniff.. didnt enter the hide, but did enjoy a small basking moment on the husk outside the hide :)
hydrometer (dial) now in the centre of the tank and reading 60-65 when i mist the hot rock and basking area

now to keep this up and see what happens. still in the foggy blue eye stage.. (i believe it is called the Preecdysis stage from the care sheet)

i am soooo intrigued with this that i think i am driving the family mad lol

well finally she has shed! she had stayed away from eyes and i think she is a little tired, but it all came off in one go including eye caps :)

i believe that the new coconut husk coupled with a dedicated mitchell misting her cave every day really helped

gonna weigh her when she comes out of her cave

the skin is 22 inches long (as you can see from pictures) so give an inch for stretch she is probably 26 inches in length
and about 2 inches in width at the biggest part - she is coming up 5 months old - is this a good size?

thanx for all the support thru a very exciting time for me

MULV HOPE YOU GET THEM EYE CAPS OFF SOON, IT WILL BE FINE!

if the shed skin is 22", allowing about 10% for stretching makes her about 20" long
