Oh no!
Someone has given Paulusworm the gift of a Frog icon and I'm behind on my ceramic fitting. What is this world coming to? |

I have just set up a new viv for Fernando, with a ceramic heater (100W conical), guard and microclimate pulsestat, but the guard is still very hot. I do worry that he'll wrap himself around it and gets burnt. Still, lots of other people have ceramic heaters and appear to be happy with them - do your guards not get hot? |

Once the viv has reached the required temp, the ceramic isnt on all the time so the guard will cool down. |

I had my hand on Sherman's guard today and could have kept it there all day. The viv temps were all good and the guard was just the hotter side side of warm. Mine's on a dimming stat rather than a pulse stat though so would that make a difference? |

Well it has been a week now since they both had ceramic heaters put in. The temperatures are a lot steadier than the old 100 watt spot bulb that used to be there.
I can't really report an awful lot of difference in behaviour for either Sherman or Matilda because they have both decided to go into shed and don't want to come out to play .
They've now got red led lights too. God, these snakes get spoiled |

I'm spending a fortune on our little snakey!
Ceramic still getting quite hot, but not as bad as to start with. I have got the day-time temparature sorted, but night-time is erratic (using a night-time drop thermostat; maybe this was a mistake). It appears that to increase the temp at night the dial needs to be turned anticlockwise, while the day-time dial is turned clockwise to increase. Strange! |

I-M: If you are still having problems with night temps try heat mats at night. Both of mine have mats at night (on mat stats) and temps seem to be ok. Might be worth a go. |

Do you put the heat mat under a vinyl? Ie the same stuff I you'd put on the floor? |
