got mine digi scales from Aldi or Lidl when they were on offer at about £7. I usually weigh the snakes in grams and aim to have a weigh-in every month or two. i put the snakes in a RUB balanced on top of the scales then either knock off the weight of the empty RUB, or zero the scales before adding the snake.
for records i also record the colour of the pray item offered and the snake's reaction ie. did it strike, was it a shy feeder and take ages, etc. |

I bought these from a charity shop for 50p. Not quite big enough for Royals though.
For the big snakes I use these fishing scales and a few cloth bags
I got those for about £2 from Doncaster Rep show. |

HI EVERYONE, SORRY FOR THE SLOW REPLYS xmas and all
gonna be a little quiet next week too (new year here we come)
right - wow everyone uses just about anything to weigh em! hahaha
DAZ - ok i have a pair of kitchen scales with 'G' so will weigh with that for now till i get the digital scales
LEE - poo and wee (or is that wii lol) is now on the list - nice one cos i forgot that - how do you list it ? amount /size/ colour or like a general description i think im gonna have a 'notes' section too for any feeding snags too
KAZ - lol i didnt see the text by your fish scales pictures and thought the worst - my eyes nearly popped out (i have a vivid imagination) imagine the scene - little rod and hook in the viv - fishing for the snakey and hooking it to the scales lol (it was the picture on the box of that fish with the hook that did it)
seriously though, that looks like how people would do it in the trade - i bet its less stress on the snake too |

I think so too, the big snakes stay still in the bag because it's dark. The little 'uns are always trying to get out of the bowl on the scales. You've got to read the weight quick before they do a runner. |

i think 4 days is a little too often. I wouldnt feed any more frequent than 5 days.
As long as she is eating dont worry. A steady growth is better than a rapid one in my opinion. maybe try switching her to weener rats. they have a higher fat content.

I agree with Daz, I usually stick to every 5 days or so when they are small and if you can get them onto Rats they will grow even quicker. Rat Fluffs or very small weaners at that size. |

Totally agree about getting it on the Rolands but I always keep some Stuarts in for when he's being a pain. Like now ! Seems to work though. Wave a mouse around the viv and he's like a fat bloke going after a packet of biscuits . |
