Is night time best to attempt to feed in your opinion?

The later at night the better really - all depends on when your royal is most active - Most come out more at night to hunt, as they would in the wild. |

Cool, thanks folks. She did down a adult mouse last night but oddly enough would not take it from the tweezers. I just laid it out across one of her hide logs a WALLOP, she pounced and downed it. Great to see these majestic creatures feed. I just got her on Saturday from a rescue and was worried about her willingness to feed. So far so good I guess, heres hoping she remains like that. |

Royals are nocturnal so they would normally eat at night, especially if your enclosure has a photoperiod (I got a day lamp and a night lamp that simulates sunshine and moonlight respectively). Although, I have a spider royal that doesn't care when he eats. He'll eat daily if I give it to him - crazy snake. My pastel is the finicky one and will only eat late at night. I have a hognose that will only eat during the morning (hognoses are diurnal), so I'm really learning a good deal with only 3 snakes - all 3 of them have completely different personalities! |
Snake owner since Oct 2008, so yeah, I'm no expert. 0.1.0 pastel royal 1.0.0 spider royal 0.1.0 albino royal 1.0.0 bumblebee royal 1.0.0 yellowbelly royal 0.0.1 wild-type royal 1.0.0 normal western hognose |
