what temp are you baking them on?

I'm not too bad at identifying trees when they are in one piece but, when the Forestry Commission have been lopping bits off and piling them up it's difficult to tell what's what in the pile. I go for Silver Birch. You can't really confuse it with anything else out there 'where the wild things are' .

I usually soak mine in the bath in a bleach solution for 3 to 4 hours and then bake them for 1 to 1 and a half hours. It's the only way to be sure (name that film ).

100 to 120 degrees Celsius or halfway between Gas Mark 1 and Off. When I looked the temp up to convert it, 100 - 120 was Gas Mark one quarter.

We don't have that on our range so I have to guess it .

ok, i will give it a go, going to be out today so will look for some nice peices, and yes it is a lot harder to identify when not attatched to the tree..

but you would not use elderberry would you? have i got the right tree? which one is toxic? i have a big tree over hanging my garden with some dead bits on it so will wait till the weather is a bit drier and see what i can get off it...i am pretty sure it is a blackurrant or something similar...
