What wattage ceramic would I need for a 3' viv? Also are there any preferances in brands? Thanks |

Got 100w in both of mine and they work a treat not sure on brand but they are white, conical ones with ES fitting.

Dimmer is the most accurate but more expensive, PP is the norm and good enough. |

Got dimmers. I've never used pulse so I can't make a comparison. Erm er..... I'll just shut up now. |

I thought Pulses were more accurate, oops.
I have looked at the AHS, I don't think it works out much more expensive once you've bought a bulb, guard, stat etc etc. |

I have a 100W ceramic bulb in a 3' viv, but it's on most of the time, in order to keep the temperature up. And that is despite the fact that the room is centrally heated. I would go for a 150W if I was getting a new one. |

The 150W would also last longer as its not being used as much. |

Hi Matty, I am using a 100W ceramic in one of my vivs and it heats it just fine, and i did read somewhere that Pearlco ones are better than Exo Terra, but dont quote me on that one..lol...but that is what i am using in both the vivs i have on ceramics, and also i use a pulse rather than a dimmer with my ceramics...
Must admit i prefer ceramics over normal red heat bulbs as the heat feels nicer...if it can..lol..
I am looking into AHS when Peanut is ready to go into the next size viv... |

I'm going to be moving Sid into a 2ft soon, then he has a 3ft lined up for him when he outgrows the 2ft, should I get a 150w that will do both vivs or will that be overkill for the 2ft?
If they don't last that long I might end up going with the 100w and getting a new 150w when he moves. |

ive got 250w ones for mine. they are the same price as 150w ones. i also got the pearlco ones after much consideration...
if your going for the 150w you may aswell get the 250w. it will work at less power so will probably last longer... |

does it depend on the type of stat you run them off? i would imagine a basic on/off type such as a matstat could blow them quicker (but my electronic knowledge is hugely limited ) |

I was thinking this earlier when trying to decide between a dimming or pulse stat. |
