Hadnt seen that thread Anne, just looked through it now. The skinned head was a bit weird, but it was good to see what everything looks like.

Anne - is your snake managing to poo?
if it's not it could be a blockage of some description - cyst, tumour or merely ingested substrate?
if it is pooing and acting normally, it'll hopefully not be anything too serious *fingers crossed*

HI GP, not sure about pooing, but he is musking well

There is something there, which i will get checked out today, appointment got cancelled yesterday, yes it could be a blockage, over the last week i have watched him become more lethargic, if that is the right word...he has not eaten for three weeks, but i noticed yesterday that it looks like he has an eyecap still on, you cannot see it unless your in very good light, it is actually on the eye, i tried to get it off yesterday but failed, but i never tried to hard as i did not want to do any damage to his eye, that could be part of the reason he is not eating, so will let the vet have a look today and we will get the lump sorted out to hopefully it is nothing sinister.

But i was told it was a bite from a mouse. the bit where the marble sized lump is, but who knows he was given up as a rescue so it might be the truth it might not, will find out today. I am hoping it is a cyst as he has a couple of very small ones on the outside of his skin.

Will let you know later.

whatever is there it is squidgy. not solid, he is at the vets now they will do xrays and go from there, i doubt he would survive an op as he is quite thin, xrays cant show if it is an abscess or a growth can they?

fluid won't show up well on an xray, probably just as a shadow

keep us posted won't you and keep smiling hun, although if it wasn't for bad luck it seems you wouldn't have any luck at all

Hi GP. I dont think it is bad luck at all, i think it is sad as Indy should really have been treated by the person that had Indy, not left for so long, it is i hope going to be treated now as long as it can be treated with whatever it has... I could say some things here about this snake but i dont want to go public and get done for slander or anything....

If it does turn out to be a tumour or whatever then i will do what is best for Indy, if that means coming home to die then so be it, if it means it is kinder for him to go now...well i dont know on that one...lol...but hey, it may just be an abscess or a cyst, which is totally treatable..

These things always happen for a reason, lessons to be learned and stuff

Well Indy had his op today, the vet called me ealry this evening to let me know what had gone on. He had an abcess on one of his kidneys (which explains why he was drinking a lot he must of been compensating for the one that never was bad) , and it was a lot bigger than the lump..they removed the kidney because it was so bad, and he would have died if it had been left as it was. He is now breathing on his own and will be kept there for another 48 hours for obs and to make sure there are no further complications.

So now i am off to make sure he will lead a normal life which i imagine he will.
