Having not yet gone through a summer with Peanut, do you guys turn your stats down when it gets hotter outside? |

it gets hot outside...where? im gonna move there...
Seriously now, i dont think the summer temps of this country would effect the vivs overall temp. I know the winter ones do but that is because it can get to alot colder outside than in the viv. I cant really see us having a summer so hot it would effect the vivs ambient temp... |

That's what stats are for, they turn the temps down for you. |

I notice a different during a very unusually hot, and very short spell, last summer, but that was with a glass viv and heating mat. Normally, with the mat, ambient temperatures wouldn't be more than 20 and a bit. However, during this, unfortunately, very brief spell the temperature went up to 30, and Fernando started coming out a lot during the days. With the ceramics and a wooden viv, the situation should be different. But if the room temperature is high, I can't see how the viv temperature could be lower, and changing the thermostat setting shouldn't make any difference. |

you can't change the ambient temperature but the stat will control the 'warm end'. if we had an exceptionally hot summer you could always install a fan to keep the cool end cooler. however they'd naturally be able to cope with hot spells in the wild and to cool down in captivity usually chill in or around they water bowl. you just need to make sure the viv isn't in direct sunlight at ANY time of the day. |

Yes, now that you say that, I think he did sit in the water bowl during the day! |
