Hey hey everyone!!

We've had our python now for about a mont or so, he seems to have settled in well and has fed successfully first time.... so far.

He's about 8 months (I think) 15 or so inches. Currently housed in a plastic tank about 15 inches long, placed on top of a heat mat. Temp in his "hot" hide is 32-33c.

The issue I have is the cold side, this has started to fluctuate a lot and seems to be anywhere from as low as 20c to 24c..... being barely 20c this afternoon.

I was thinking of rigging up a heat lamp system in order to control the temp gradient more on the cold side....? all advice very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello, yes, this is the problem with heat mats in that they do not heat the air and as such the cold end is pretty much the temperature of the surrounding environment. Heat Bulbs do heat the air and so will contribute to the temperature of the cool end.
