HI, bought a thermostat for my heat mat for my royal python, as before my heat mat was putin out a load of heat and coz you lot said that i should have one, but now with the thermostat even on max it doesnt seem to be very hot at all, i wouldn't evan say warm and tht is when i put my fingers on the glass where the heat mat is, when i put the substrate over it i cant even feel the heat at all.

any help/tips would be good thanks.

If you have it set at 32C it will not feel warm to you as your blood temperature is 37C.

What is your thermometer reading?

Also where is the probe, if ifs under the substrate it might not allow the mat to get hot enough.

If you put the probes for the stat and the thermometer on top of the substrate in the hide you'll get the temperature as the snake would feel it

i bought a T-Rex CobraStat was the only 1 in the shop, the prob is on the heat mat, i will put it on top of the substrat.

i only asked because some stats have minimum ratings on them...

measure the temp where the probe is at.
