i would move his hide and just go in and get him. put a pair of gloves and a jumper on so you wont be as scared of him tagging you...
or...
you could put a pair of your gloves or similar in the viv so he can get used to you scent for a few days. |

open the viv door and see if he wants to come out on his own...
it a regularly suggested method... never done it myself. |

Today I thought f**k it and dove in head first.
(ok so i had gloves on!!!)
Unlocked the viv, lifted the hide, he went into ultra "coil back, come any closer and im gona bite you" mode, ignored it and picked him up.
Sat down on my bed (right next to my viv) and just watched, he relaxed, which made me relax.
Eventually I took both gloves off and held him normally, he seemed his old self!
I feel so much better now, im thinking he might just be viv protective.
but...
I did notice some sort of scabbing or something, between the scales on the top side of his head... (his left, our right)
kinda hard to make out in the pic, is that a burn or something?
something which has made him grumpy??
Old pic of the viv on the floor, its the same now but higher up -
the red bulb is about 3 - 4mm away from the bottom of the protector, too close?

lol..no i was not saying you smell
what he is doing sounds just like a normal royal that has not been handled...i think if you aim to handle him a couple of times a week he will soon be ok..
As for his head, are you talking about the back by his neck? it might be old shed..it does not look like a scab, but more like old skin.. |
