i went to the rep shop yesterday to get some weaners and they only had large ones, but i am not sure about giving them to Peanut, they are almost the size of small rats barring three quarters of an inch...

He could take it i am sure, but he would struggle..and i dont want to hurt him.

Yes a small weaner, or a large fluff.

Having read on here that rats were better I moved Princess onto them, she's had two now and took them both straight away. Good girl!

Thanks all. We've been really lucky with her, so far she's eaten everything she's been offered. Now we just need her to oblige with a turd.

Tibo was a mouse feeder when I got him. He refused rats. Then he went on hunger strike and refused everything, even gerbils. He eventually took chicks and a single mouse after his fast, but I really want him on rats. He refused a rat weaner I left him overnight, so, as I had one chick left (I don't want him to have any more chicks really as they are nutritionally poor and I don't want him fixated on them) I tried him with it. He sniffed the chick and then took it (sideways on, so took ages to swallow it!) but just as the chick was disappearing down I popped the rat head in his mouth. He swallowed it down nicely. Result!

Since feeding he has been roaming round his viv like a lunatic. I hope he has a taste for them now. We shall see.

you could always try cutting a wing of the chick and putting it in the rats mouth...you may have to dislocate its jaw to get it in there...

Great idea. I do not fancy putting a rat in a "chick jacket" though- sounds messy and I have no idea where my dissection kit is

African Soft-Furred Rat for me... a.k.a. multi-mammate. They're easy to raise, so I have a little breeding colony going on. I just priced my breeding colony and it came out to about $0.25 a rat not counting my effort.

Snake owner since Oct 2008, so yeah, I'm no expert.

i could not breed them for food though..lol...
