Montiiee shed today for the 1st time since i've had him. Everything is off except his head. Temps are ok, humidity seems fine, moss box is in there although he has constantly refused to use it. So i have now taken his normal hide out, which has worked. He's now using his moss hide. I bathed him for 15 minutes this morning, head has still remained. I will leave him now until the morning, but if it still remains then, what is the best tip for helping him remove it. |

a damp rather than soaked towel really
leave him a day or two in his damp hide, mist the viv once or twice to raise the humidity temporarily then try a bath for 15 mins or so and gently try removing the stuck shed with a damp flannel or towel. |

Dunno if anyone else has tried a rubber thumb (used in offices to sort paperwork easily) Just pop it on your finger and gently stroke the snake wheret he shed is stuck. Works a treat |

Must the time of year for it. Sherman has just had a two-piece shed yesterday. |

I tried this today as montiiee had been in his moss hide since yesterday morning. Thought it was working at first, as straight away half of the shed caught on his head started to come away with just a gentle rub with the damp flannel. But it's now caught right by his eyes, and the same gentle action won't budge it. I don't feel comfortable applying any pressure as montiiee really does seem to detest having anything touch his head while the shed is affecting his vision. So do i leave it for another day and hope that he either removes it himself, or have another go at doing the same as i tried today? Or do you think i should keep trying today as the shed that was coming away with the flannel has now doubled the layer over his eyes? |

Really chuffed. The head and eye caps are off. I used a cotton bud dipped in warm water and just gently rubbed it over the layer of shed that remained, which worked a treat. As soon as it came away from his eyes he started rubbing his nose against my hand, and the skin came away easily. Thanks for the help everyone. |

Glad to know it's come off. Princess hasn't shed yet, so it's good to read how people have dealt with difficult ones. |
