OK, so, **deep breath and fingers crossed**, I have now gone 2 weeks without a mite in sight, woohoo!
Thought I would post what appears to have cured them the quickest.
I tried:
- TOTAL strip of tanks, sprayed down, EVERYTHING out, nothing back in
Above didn't work as the snakes still had a few on them after being soaked.
- Another strip down, and Zoo Med Mite off.......which is crap
- Finally I tried leaving them in some cooking oil for 20 mins each.
To do the oil bit I used one of the tiny exo terra carry tubs (the ones you normally see tarantulas in, and poured one litre of cooking oil in there (apparently expensive virgin olive oil, ooops, sorry wife)
Then each snake was put in for 20 mins, strangely each seemed to like it, submerging instantly. Yes they tongue flick, and no, they didn't die, (infact all ate two days later). After about 5 mins you see some bubbles as the last few air pockets fill up under the scales.
After taking them out I counted 2 from Stig, and three from Sabine (removed, though dead, before the next snake went in)
Each snake was then put in a rub with LOTS of toilet tissue and kitchen roll, after being wiped down (VERY messy job). Once the thick is cleaned off they were transferred back into vivs with kitchen roll substrate and a nice BIG water bowl.
They both took a quick drink (maybe to clear the mouth?) and went straight into their hides.
2 days later they both fed (with usual gusto) and 2 weeks later, still NO sign of ANY mites.
As an aside all viv furniture has been treated with ardap prior to going back into the viv (would have used earlier but it didn't arrive in time) |

thats good news karl...
I did the same with the oil, seemed to work a treat. but they kept coming back, think they were hidden in the RUB. Out came the Ardap for the RUB and another soak in oil and fingers crossed it looks like im ok. |

1 day for me, though some state you can do it earlier. I just had a spare rub so it was a no hurry thing.
I suppose as long as it's aired out then there aint a problem? |

Did the oil treatment on my little one, once she realised she couldn`t get out she seemed well chilled and needed my help to get out. |

I left mine closed for 2-3 days to really fumigate it and then let it air out for 2 days. i wasn`t in a rush as i`d tried every other method without success. Seems to have worked a treat. |
