should I be able to see the spurs that sit ether side of the anal vent ?

3.1.0 royal python
2.0.0 corn snake
0.1.0 western hognose
0.1.0 bci

they protruding about 3 to 4mm is that normal

sometimes they lose a spur and they can grow back but takes a long time as they are built up from layers of retained shed if i remember right

so, if you can see them they have been bred? We got Boris in June and he is 3. I am going to go back to the shop and see if I can find out a bit more about him.

makes no difference if they have been bred or not, males tend to have larger spurs but this is not an accurate way of sexing as some females have large spurs

Pythons also use their spurs to "tickle" the female to show her he is in the mood and to get her in position.

I've been trying to find a good book about royal python's but all I come across is basic care books can anyone recommend a good book please
