Ok guys I'm a little confused (and have been for years lol) anyway to the point of my reply, when people talk of turning there heat source off at night everyone answers that the ambient drops at night anyway.
Now this is the bit I don't understand cause we keep our reptiles at an artificially high temp for this country so when the ambient drops at night as I agree it does then the heat source would increase output to compensate and insure that the temp inside the viv remains constantly and artificially high surely, now I'm not a member of mensa so be gentle with your replies

I think the issue is defining what's being referred to as "ambient" the warm side of the viv/tub on 24/7 heat will remain in the 90s, let's say. While the cool side will drop at night.
My room stays at 78-80 ambient during the day then, drops to 73-75 at night. IMHO a night drop or any kind of drop isnt massively important for royals unless you're cycling them for breeding. That's just my 2p, some may disagree
