I'd get an actual measurement for the rubs you'll be using before starting building/sourcing others items etc. they'll be the defining measurement after all.
For reference, a 50ltr rubs external measurment is 710x440x230mm
Or you can check the rest of the range here...http://www.reallyusefulproducts.co.uk/uk/html/onlineshop/fullrange_rub.php |

Good thing about building it from scratch is i can make it as big or small as i like and to exact sizes to fit the space its going in. Plus the cupboard on the bottom to hide the stats, cables and general bits i keep for the snakes. Also helps the other half's dad is a carpenter so have all the tools and help i could need.
Mite even be able to get the wood cheaper as he has trade accounts. |

Can i make a suggestion, which is important if your using mats.
firstly if using no lids take the heatmat into consideration as it does make a difference, secondly your best having say hard board at the front so that the tub slides over the mats
also duct tape is a life saver keeping the mats in position
il post a couple pics to illustrate what i mean |

Even my perfect planning became a bit of a bodge job, but you live and learn lol
notice the hardboard on the bottom to help the rubs slide in without f****** up the heatmat
