I went to feed Rambo after shed yesterday and my friend was around so I got him to record it on a slow motion app, the first two times he struck we thought he missed and the third he didn't strike but just bit the mouse. After watching the videos back I noticed the he was actualy striking with his mouth closed. I know a lot of snakes do this as a defensive but a royal? To its food? anyone else experienced this?

Could possibly be a little nervous one of my babies this year has a tendancy to strike his food two or three times before he finally latches on and constricts, wouldn't honestly know if he's doing it mouth closed or not though.

same with my female, she's pretty nervous any way but she strikes the mouse with her mouth closed a few times until she realizes it's food
