During my usual outing to the rep room, i noticed that they had tortoises that were chipped. the reason for this is probably due to people releasing them when they get bigger.
but that made me think. Is it possible to chip a royal? it would be useful for anyone worried about theft or escape.

Some Tortoises have to be chipped and have papers for traceability. I think its a law to protect against the trade of endangered species (the ones listed on CITES). Some you can readily trade. Easier to copy a link than to rewrite so:
As far as I am aware there has to be a certain amount of flesh between the skin and the muscle/body etc but in theory it could be possible, whether you'd find someone willing to do it is another story. The easiest way to help identify your snake is to have a very clear picture of the markings as no two are exactly the same.
My vet offers a micro chip for snakes, I don't think I would take up the offer, unless someone stole them, I don't intend on letting them out of sight .
