Hi there, just wondering if a heat mat, nice size rub, and thermostat are the only things you need for your royals, as I was reading another blog and apparently they can live in a rub their whole life? my royal is ready to move up a size. Don't I need a ceramic bulb to keep the heat up? If so how would I do so with a rub? I cannot understand it all :/ |

Yep true enough. I keep my guys in RUB's permanently they start in 9litre rubs with a heatmat under one 1/4 on a thermostat, I include hides and leaves and anything else that can keep it nice and crowded (water bowl too) then they move up to 12litre with same layout and finally 50litre :) |

So is it better to have a rub? My royal is just over a year old, dont know if to just buy a rub, would rather not waste money on a viv because they cost alot :/ |

There isn't any real advantage or disadvantage to either. Personally I use RUBs because they're easier to fit it, easier to heat and easier to clean. Though that's just preference I'm sure some people prefer vivs for the exact same reasons. |
