i was thinking about getting some drift wood for my royal ive read some woods are bad for royals is that the case for drift wood and if its safe what to i need to do to the wood before i pop it in is it just a case of disinfect it and scrubb the wood

prob another silly question from me lol

not too sure with drift wood think it just needs a good scrub an drying out.

i collect my own bits of wood then treat them like this

i find fallen branches that are dry ish just make sure their not from any conifer/pine looking trees

Iv heard of people collecting driftwood for their reps and I like getting pebbles for them. So long as they are treated with a solution of bleach, they should be ok

Bleach in the bath, the cook it in the oven (make sure it doesn't burn :P) then more bleach then rinse it really good then air dry for a few days :) ... Ready for snake

Apparently drift wood in sea water is safe once rinsed as prolonged soaking in salt water kills all nasties :)

See it depends. Pine is still pine and Cedar is still Cedar, if its still got resin its still toxic.

Yeah ;)and if it's still fresh driftwood,you don't know where its come from etc.

Go for the well traveled wood hehe,Give it a soak and bleech/clean etc etc also check well for nails and the like.
