We gave our little CB12 albino a bath Thursday night, she eats like a horse but hasn't 'passed' anything for a while. It was during this we noticed a little whistle when she breathed out.
Three things immediately sprang to mind;
1) She got a bit of water up her nose
2) She had a really rubbish shed a few weeks ago, could be a remnant of that
3) RI

We didn't panic, put her back for a few hours and checked her later.
No whistle, no rattle, no signs of mucus, nothing out of the ordinary.
She was checked again Friday evening and Saturday evening, nothing to note.
However, we got her out Sunday afternoon (weighing o'clock for the boys and girls) and the whistling had returned.
Bummer.
Sunday night is food o'clock for the boys and girls, so we decided to see if she would eat. No issue there!
So, we decided to give the Vicks and eucalyptus steam chamber a go.
Tonight was the first session. Whistling slightly when she went in, noticeably less so when she came out but no signs of 'loosened' mucus.
We will carry on with this twice a day for the rest of the week, unless other symptoms appear. I see no point in cramming antibiotics down her if it is just a flap of scale.
I have increased the humidity and temperature in her RUB slightly also.
If you care to read I shall continually keep this thread updated with our progress. It may even help others.
Don't worry, if things start looking iffy she will be straight down the vet, we aren't doing this because we can't be arsed, or can't afford, to go to the vet, but I hope you see it as a measured response to a possible issue.
I welcome your thoughts and comments.

You pass a lungs worth of air through tiny nostrils and its going to make a noise. Not a lot but you can hear them breathe. Your response won't do any harm but responding to a symptom is only half the battle.

Snakes can pick up RIs from snake to snake contact pretty much like we pass on bugs person to person OR it can be environmental. If you suspect an RI you cant just treat the snake you have to react to the the potential causes too and disinfect (deep clean) the vivarium/rub/faun. If there is any mould or bacteria build ups in a vivarium and you increase humidity all you are doing is giving perfect conditions to have the nasties grow and spread and you go from a wheezy snake to a seriously ill snake quite quickly. Check that the ventilation is adequate, not blocked by foliage or anything like that.

Cheers, didn't mention it, but all the snakes had deep clean Sunday as a precaution.
