Forgot to add if your worried about night time temps dropping too low or for winter you could use a ceramic bulb alongside your light emitting bulb to up the temps which is what i was going to do. i will be using the ceramic on a new habistat digital dimming thermostat with the probe in cool end set to 80c for the day time and drop to 70c at night when bulbs go out and for day I'll also have a spot bulb just to use as a temp boost and light source so beardie knows where to go also on a dimming stat and the uv tube |

Hi yeh it will need to be stated. I just set up a 4ft viv for my nephew , I used a 250watt ceramic, for heating and a 10uv bulb 2ft long, as I like them. To have a choice of uv or shade, as it is a young beardy we used paper for sub, and then some logs and big rocks placed about, also put a litter tray full of peat moss and bit of play sand as they like to dig. |

Yeah it needs statted, if you wanted to do it cheaply you could set up the ceramic with a pulse prop stat and set your night time temp using that alone first then use your basking bulb and dimming stat to set your daytime temps if you know what i mean, rather than using the new digital stat to set 2 different temps for your ceramic. overall cost for set up depends on what way you want to do it. have you got viv? Beardies are relatively cheap from around £30 in shops cheaper again from breeder. heating and lighting between £100 and £250 depending on what you want then decor is however you want it really if you don't have viv I've paid £140 for my 4ft from pets at home. I'll list what Im using with rough prices if you like |

I've got arcadia slimline t5 luminaire £60 150w Ceramic bulb £15 60w Spot bulb £2 for 2 from wilkinsons Light fitting for ceramic and spot £15 habistat digital dimming stat £75 Bulb guard £15 Timers for spot and uv bulb £12 each for digital (dials are cheaper)
Im going to try and get away with using the one stat but if i can't I'll need another normal dimming stat for £40 I'll be using floor tiles as substrate and for my 4ft viv that cost £20
As for decor you could get for free if you wanted to go rock hunting lol Food bowls could be anything and i think that's the lot
Rather than a thermometer your best using an infrared heat gun to check basking spot |
