Hi every1 you are going to be sick of all my questions about my baby female but she looks realy swollen above her cloaca now im kind of worried as she hasnt poo'd in te time i have had her and today is the first time i have handled her realy and she looks realy swolen so i read that if i gave her a warm bath that could help her pass but after her bath her vent started to realy swell but only a little bit of pee came out :( so should i worry or should i just expect a huge poo :/ here is a couple of pics to show what i mean :(
I also weighd her today and she is 64 grams so has put on 2 grams from earing her 9 gram mouse but im guessing after she passes what is stuck il be back to stage 1 :( |

Oh my that's certainly one unhealthy looking royal :( If it were me I'd give her a warm bath as you did to see if the swelling was just her needing the loo, however I think it might be an idea to call a vet on this one the swelling looks strange and the snake looks very small.
Edit: After a second and third look that really does look like he needs to poo.. If a warm bath hasn't done the job then he might be having trouble passing it, again a vet might be able to offer better advice. I've never come across this before. |

After the time she got stuck on the sticky tape from the thermometer, and being sold alittle under weight, and now this. She's not having a very good time.
That lots like impaction, what substrate do you use?I'd go to the vets and get her looked over,as if it doesn't pass,it will only get worse. |

Sounds like the vet has no idea,It depends what the problem is.due to the weight it was sold to you as,and the problems you're getting now.
Could have been sold to you in poor health,or something thats happened in your care..So yeah id phone the shop, and still take her to the vets asap. |

Don't feed her until this has gone 100%,it could be substrate stuck,to bigger prey items,List goes on.
If it doesn't pass soon, you'll need to get him looked at,as it can cause problems with other organs.try increasing the temps and bathing, but not to much as to stress the snake out.
Also try and massage the snake carefully around the blockage. |

Hi i called the nearest exotic vets to me this morning to se what they would reccomend i do and they said if i start to massage around her bulge and if it starts moving then thats fine baisicly try push it out but if it isnt going to move DONT FORCE it to move so i got her out and gave her another warm bath and gently started massaging and rubbing gently down towards her vent and slowly but surely it all came away without any problems here is a pic of what all came out of her :o
Now i hope she eats fine and poos fine from now on i also weighed her after that all came away and ahe is down to 58 grams hope she starts putting on weight soon :/ |

Aww a mild impact ion made to look much worse because the snake is so skinny.
The 10-15% of body weight feeding guide does not apply in this case. Feed nothing wider than the snakes widest point and build up gradually, and don't feed too often either, slow and steady is the way, personally I'd only feed weekly with a sprinkle of Nutrobal. I can't believe a reputable (or at least heard of) company has sold you a snake in that condition unless it was under special agreement that you were to get it back to health. |

Wow that is a lot of poop. Glad you got her sorted. I would hope that under your loving care and attention she feeds and poops fine from now on. That was serious constipation. My pal and I had to massage a poop out of one of her corns once and he's been fine ever since although now likes a bath to poo in hehe |

Is that what a royal poo looks like then? I only seen a corn poo and it was like a bird poo - clear jelly followed by creamy slop then a black plop. All came out accompanied by the loudest fart and awful smell urgh |

Glad you managed to work it out (excuse the pun). Also good that she is eating. Hopefully she'll start to bulk up and poo unaided in future. |

I'd say she will be fine now and will start gaining weight gradually which is what you want for now. I'm sure you'll soon have her a more healthy body shape too. Keep us posted on her progress. |

I suppose for you it's for the best they take it (and any associated medical costs and effort) back. They were very silly to let it be sold in the first place, I can't understand the thinking behind it other than pound signs. It would be a tough thing to do for you though if you've bonded with it in any way. Unfortunately some are born with defects and no amount of care will ever make them well, I would be tempted to negotiate they cover a vet visit to see if there is a defect or just a rough start, but that is just me, you do whatever works for you. |

Yea i will be really gutted to see her go back :( but it will prob be best for her aswell as they have alot of experience with baby snakes and i have none :/ so they will be able to treat her best the manager i spoke to also said she should have never been shipped to me as she is so small one of his employees packed and shipped her and he said if i would like another he would personally pick 1 out for me so i am to call on monday to arrange for her to be picked up from me :( |
