Has anyone else had the issue of royal striking, coiling and leaving its dinner. My little 180g Lesser Fire girl has taken to doing this. Last week she done it but eventually ate, this week just left the food behind.

I am not worried just curious.

Any advise most welcome. Usually she is a decent eater, likes her food warm and will strike at every thing that smells of mouse/rat. Just not eating them right now lol

Yeah one of my girls does it ALL the time - I'd say she strikes but refuses a good 1/3 of her meals, after observing her behavior I've put it down to her being lazy, she tries to find the head for about 10 minutes, has an attempt or two on the back leg or tail and then just gives up and goes home. Sometimes I can get her to re-strike other times I can't.

Its a pain in the bum, she holds it for a while then just lets go and wanders off to explore again. If I reheat she will keep on taking without issue, just without the eating part lol. She has even tagged me a few times in the mouse/rat excitement haha

Looks like she will be a weight gain pain then

might be worth letting her strike and while she's coiled, turn all the lights off and go bed, sometimes they just don't like being watched.

make sure they are properly defrosted too, im sure you already do but if the rats are cold on the inside then they dont hold heat when warmed up so they tend to lose them lol

Think she had a fussy week, so I blacked out half her rub and added even more cover. She took and ate a rat fluff yesterday unheated stone cold (usually she only takes turbo heated).

She is a strange one lol

I blacked out the rub for a week with minimal interaction (unless rub maintenance) and she ate. This week she is in shed so I haven't got a hope in hell of her feeding lol
