Hi every1 my male pastel has been fasting for the past 6 weeks now i know that realy isnt long for a royal but i was just wondering if i should start thinking about other food options or scenting prey or should i just leve him to it ? and he will come out of it on his own. I have weighed him and he has actualy gained 3 grams :/ in the time he hasnt eaten im not worried just looking for advice ?

No that isn't a long time for royals. Are all your temps right? What weight is your snake and what are you currently feeding it?

A fast can only be called a fast if you have ruled out all other options. Which means double checking your temperatures, checking for mites, making sure the enclosure isn't too big and stressing him out and even stuff like lights being on through the night and that your rats are suitably warmed up and not disturbing him when he is having a look.

Basically I'd try the minimum fuss approach to feeding, wait until night, sneak the warmed up rat into the viv and then go to bed and leave him to it in the dark. Hopefully it will be gone in the morning, if its not then try again in a fortnight with no handling unless absolutely necessary and see what happens.

Yea all his temps are fine nothing has changed in that sense and he has been in his viv for near enough a year now and only just stopped eating 6 weeks ago :/ he is 914 grams last time i weighed him and he is a cb11 i have checked for mites with no obvious signs and there are no lights left on at night and also i allways have heat his rats up and allways put them in at night (this can be 1am some mornings as i work late) but allways come down to the uneaten rat :( i have been offering every monday for the past 6 weeks so hopefully leving it 2 weeks will help
