I didn't really kmow if this was the right section to do this but here goes. So im in the market to buy a new snake and im having some serious trouble narrowing down what I want. All I need to know are what pythons and boas stay roughly under 5 ft (6ft?) , even if its only the males that'll stay this small. Heres what I've gotton so far (I know about colubrids so not worried about them)

Royal pythons
Rainbow boas
Rosy boas
Sand boas
Carpet python (I went to my very much trusted reptile shop today to see if the guys in there could help me out and they said the carpets wont get much bigger then 6ft, but for some reason im really not convinced. If this is true please tell me because ill jump at the chance to have one of these guys)

Its not spacing that the size limit is about, my mum is only just overcoming her fear of snakes so the size limit is because im trying to be considerate of her feelings. If the snake does for some reason get a bit bigger then expected its not too much of a problem. Any help please?

Id be careful with what the pet shop are offering you as carpet pythons vary in the size they get to depending on the species, irian jaya carpets will stay under 5ft and very rarely get bigger than that other carpet species will be bigger the coastal carpets being the biggest getting up to 10ft+ and jungles about 7ft so id make sure what species it is and whether its a pure breed as hybrids are common and can affect the size as adults. if your mum is getting used to snakes maybe a carpet wouldn't be the best as they can be a bit bitey when young lol
as for other small pythons there's the children's python the spotted python and woma python which is stunning

Some central American boas average around 5ft too not sure of all of them but i keep sonoran boas which stay small and im pretty sure hog island boas do too

most of the dwarf boas and some locales like sonoran and crawl cay and hogg island boas wont grow beyond 5ft, possibly not even reaching it in the case of the crawl cay. Rainbows would say bigger than 5ft. Carpets vary coastal carpets will get bigger than 6ft with the jungles opssibly topping out at 6ft.

I have a Hogg Island Boa, they are on the bigger side of the dwarf Boa scale, she is a bit over 5 feet long and nearly 2kg, she won't be getting much bigger. I love Boas for their temperament and personality not to mention they are beautiful.

I looked quite heavily into hog island boas and absolutely loved them, but I constantly heard about them some times getting 7ft and slightly more. As there concerned I would be more afraid I wouldnt be able to handle it if itgot too big. Does aanyone know the average cost of a hogg island in the uk? Im willing to spend a couple hundred on a snake im certain I wanted.

I bought my Hogg for 150, it would be a rare thing for a pure Hogg to get over 6 foot. The wild caught mother of mine was considered a big girl and she was 6 foot. My Hogg weighs about the same as my Royal just a good bit skinnier.

I wanted a Hogg from the first time I saw one and now I have one I haven't regretted getting her even for a second. Oh did I mention they change colour too. Dark in the day, really pale at night.

BRB's are beautiful snakes but larger than you might think as adults, I was shocked the first time I held an adult female. They can be a bit biter as babies but that's boas in general and they grow out of it.

I would really like a little boy hogg island but I wouldn't trust myself. I have no idea how to tell the difference between a pure hogg island or a cross and if it got too big theres no question, I'd have to get rid, which I really don't want. I asked about them about them in the reptile shop and they said they can get them in for about 250 - which is a bit much for an animal I would have to give up if it gets too big. Any advice?
