Hi

Princess has shed but she still has quite a large patch of old skin on her back. I've been misting her viv daily and the humidity is about 60% but it's still on there. She first emerged post-shed on the 7th, so she's had a week to get rid of it by herself. Should I give her a bit longer or help her? If she needs help, what's the best thing to try first?

She doesn't have a moss hide at the moment, but if the local rep shop has any moss I could pick some up. Is there an alternative if they don't have any?

The rest of her looks lovely, there's just this one patch left. Thanks in advance, this is my first time with a shed so it's all new!

you can also get moss from a garden centre (just sterilise with boiling water, then let cool before using) or you can use damp kitchen towel.
you may also try giving her a bath then letting her run through a clean towel, it should do the trick, that always works like a charm on my royal ;)

Thanks Cat. The guy in the local rep shop is rather standoffish, so I prefer not to go in if I can avoid it. Damp kitchen towel sounds like a good first go as I think it'll be less likely to stress her than a bath. Should I scrunch it up or leave it flat?

i think that's a matter of choice, i would personally tear it up and get it "puffy", but i know the snake would only flatten it out again :p

I tried putting some damp kitchen towel into her hide, and some of the skin came off but there was still a patch about four inches long down her back. This evening I got her out and some stroking with a damp pot towel removed the rest. She's all pretty again!

I can't take all the credit, I evicted her from her cave and held her while my GF wielded the towel! I'm hoping that she'll feel more comfortable without the old skin and that this weekend she may feel moved to eat. <<fingers crossed>>

I like your new banner Cat.

I imagine I'll probably get dragged into B&Q at some point over the weekend, so I'll look for some moss in there and boil it before use.
