Well slash is in blue mode, but thought I would try him with a rat anyway, he struck & constricted then sniffed both ends before munching the rat down backwards, seemed to struggle very slightly with the back legs, but all down event free! Bless him. |

yer regular thing with them just wet the head only with water warm water and it does help i know it works |

At least you didnt take it off him and try again ..... i believe its been done before and the royal didnt eat again for weeks, lol (not one of mine by the way) |

my royal has done that a few times, it is so i am told something to do with the warmest parts of the rat you offer...
but its kind of funny watching them trying to get the rat in.. |

Yeah Sal took her last one right in the middle of its body then spent a good 5minutes after constriction trying to turn the beggar round in her mouth hahaha

Royals hunt and strike as much at heat as anything else as their eyesight isn't great, so I always superheat the head with a hair drier so that they can 'see' it better. |

Cleo's did that in the past few feeds, so do you just heat up the head slightly more than the rest ? x |

mine doesn't do that with big rats but if i give him a mouse he usualy eats it from where he strikes it which is usualy the middle hahaha |

fed cleo last night & she took ages to strike, but eventually she decided she was peckish after all and ate the mouse head first. woohoo !xx |
