I have got a Habistat thermostat on my viv at the moment which I have set to 84 degrees, under instruction from the pet shop staff. I was under the impression that these were supposed to keep the heat the same all the time. I have a minimum reading of about 74 degrees and a maximum of 95 degrees. The thing reads a different temperature every time I go into the room. I have the probe placed in his warm end hide. Is this the right positioning for the probe and should I be concerned about the fluctuation in temperatures? What should I be looking for as a constant temperature on the warm side?

There are 5 different thermostats listed on that page, but I'm guessing that as you're using a heat mat, you've got a mat stat?
The way they work is to turn the heat on until they reach a set point and then turn it off again for a while. So you will get fluctuations, usually a few C either way. You could also use a Pulse Proportional stat with a mat and they are much more accurate.
