I bought a small rat the other day, they seem a huge step up from large weiners and going by the thickness of of the rat i reckon it's probably the same thickness of monty but when i weighed it,it was 200grams and monty is 800g's,would it be too much?

Just had look at some weights http://www.frozenfeeder.com/sizing.html
200grams is about middle for large rats. ( though as BE pointed out think this is american sight so sizes are a bit different.

200g sounds like a medium sized rat to me.......... if you're buying from a shop you could ask to see how big the ones they stock are?

I have got some rats that were way to big weight wise even though they looked ok size wise...they were almost 300g ended up giving them away. I now ask for rats by weight. usually ask for 120g-ish.

Yes I would say it would be too much mate.

As above, a bit big for my liking.

For 800g I'd look at a max of 120g rat.
