you know, ive had a really bad day today. my nan had a small heart attack last week and ive been really worried her, works going bad and my cats ill. the last thing i needed was to log on to here and have someone being rude when all i wanted was to ask a question. thanks a bunch reptile danny. youve just made my day a whole lot worse.

| well sorry, all i wanted to do was to say about the search button. wasn't meant to be rude or anything. calm down, soz bowt your nan and all that but wasn't meant to hurt your feelings, none of us new anything bowt your nan. you aint the only one that has had a bad day though. i went to school this morning and got splashed by car. thats the start. got into school and slipped over and really hurt my back, while being the laughing stock of the school. then got bullied all day of this guy who has been bullying me for weeks know and now one will stop it. so iv had a bad for weeks now. to top it all off got home to find that the viv i had ordered had arrived but all the wood pieces inside are damaged. |

| thats ok, im sorry i bit yor head off. just feeling real low at the moment. feels like the whole worlds against me right now. want to have a little cry but might not be able to stop so i think ill just go cuddle my animals. |

a snake (or any thing really) is homozygous for a trait if both genes from both parents are the same. A snake is heterozygous if the genes are different.
So a snake thats het has genes from both its parents, eg. if you breed a spider x pastel and get a bumblebee - that is het, it has genes from both parents.
(think im right here - correct me if im wrong)

thanks pfleming, i did have a look at black echoes post about breeding but i still find it a little confusing. maybe thats me being a bit thick! lol. will have to read more to try and fully understand the whole thing. do kinda understand what your saying though. its all very intresting.

Yes

All snakes will have genes from both parents, they aren't all het something. Heterozygous just means different. So having one Pastel gene and one Normal gene on a particular locus would be heterozygous Pastel. So you're sort of right.

thanks, no iv not sent the viv back yet, contacted the company when i found the first dint and they sed they would send out a new panel but then i discovered a few more dints and chips and havnt had a reply back. waiting and im expecting them to replace the viv. hopefully ill get a reply today. sorry bout you getting bullied as well. its horrible. i have to make new friends becasue of it. my friends are friends with the bully so... |

Really simple way is... Het is when the gene is not visual but carried.
Sorry to here about all the problems you guys are having with various stuff in your lives at the moment, hope it all works out for you soon.
Try not to worry about the bullies, after all its only school, I know it will feel like its the most important thing in the world right now but in years to come it will make you stronger, and you will realise how unimportant it was.
Just dont feel like your alone and you have no one to talk to...
