Hi,

I'm considering buying a Royal. I understand that captive farmed babies are only available April to May and that buying outside of these times is not advisable as the older a snake is, the more difficult it finds to get used to its new habitat. Does it really matter? I would prefer to buy the youngest snake I can but don't particularly want to wait until next year.

What sort of size would a 4 - 6 month old Royal be?

You could look for CB babies instead.
They might be a little more expensive, but they adapt better to captivity and i guess they are available for longer too

Hi and welcome to the forum...

You can buy a baby/juvenile royal pretty much at anytime of year.

I wouldnt say that the older the snake is the harder it is to get it to settle in, as long as the basic's are followed any snake should settle in to its new enviroment quite quickly.

As for if to buy CB or CF... IMO it doesnt realy matter regarding the temperament or behaviour. CF are hatched from eggs so have never known the wild, just like CB.

As with Daz, although I'd always go for CB if possible just for the ethics.

Thhanks for the advice and the welcome.

What sort of size are CB juveniles of around 4 - 6 months of age - I'm thinking more from a food perspective really?
